We select for confident, willing, people-oriented dogs that are enjoyable to live with and have the ability to become great companions.
We want dogs capable of doing more than they may ever be asked to do — athletic, versatile, and adaptable enough for the field, the water, an active family, or the couch.
Our puppies are born and raised on our family farm in Central Illinois. They’re handled daily by our kids and grow up around the sights, sounds, smells, animals, and activity of everyday family life. We joke that they’re “kid-proof,” but the goal is simple: raise confident puppies prepared for life beyond our home.
Sterling Prairie is rooted in generations of animal stewardship and a simple belief: great companions start with thoughtful breeding, purposeful raising, and the capability to thrive in real family life.

This is a special breeding we've looked forward to for a long time. Jett is an outside male we've admired and hoped to use, and this represents his final breeding. Paired with Basil, our charcoal female, this small three-puppy litter is one we're especially excited about.
